Getting started
What is Taxr?
Taxr reads anything about your taxes or money that you show it (an IRS transcript or letter, a W-2, a pay stub, a 1099, your TurboTax PDF, a sportsbook statement, a receipt), tells you what it means and what to do, and then keeps following it until it’s done: your refund, a letter’s deadline, your quarterly estimates.
How do I start?
Upload a document on the home page, or a photo or screenshot of one, and say what you want to know. You don’t need an account to start; sign in when you want to keep your file. Want to see it first? Watch the demo: it’s Taxr working on a made-up file.
What can I upload?
PDFs, photos and screenshots, Word files (.docx), CSV files and plain text. Pictures picked together (a transcript sent as several screenshots) are read as one document. Taxr reads anything you send, even something that isn’t a tax form.
How do I sign in?
With Google, or with a code Taxr texts to your mobile number. There’s no password. If you used the old taxr.ai with Google, sign in with the same Google account and your old documents come into your file.
What Taxr does and doesn’t do
Does Taxr file my return or contact the IRS?
No. Taxr prepares; you decide and act. It never files a return, contacts the IRS, sends a letter or an email, or moves money. It drafts what you need (a reply to an IRS letter, a W-4, your filing summary for TurboTax or any software, an email to your employer) for you to send yourself.
Where do Taxr’s numbers come from?
From your documents and from the IRS’s own tables, never from memory. Every number Taxr reads from a document shows the line it came from, so you can check it on the document’s page.
What does Taxr keep following?
Once it knows about them: your refund (it asks you for a fresh IRS transcript each week and says what changed), the reply date of every IRS letter, your quarterly estimated tax payments, and a year-end reminder about donations. You can see each one, and why one is off, on the Agents page in your account menu.
Can Taxr be wrong?
It can. Taxr checks its answers against what your documents say and shows where each figure came from, but it isn’t a tax professional. For a decision with a lot of money riding on it, check with one.
What it costs
Is Taxr free?
Yes, all of it. Every answer in full, every detail on every card, and what Taxr keeps doing after: your refund watched, W-4 sheets, drafted IRS replies, filled-in forms, reminders and your filing summary. You can ask 5 questions before you sign in; signing in is free, and then you can keep asking.
Do I need to pay for anything?
No. There’s nothing to buy, and Taxr never asks for your card.
I paid for Taxr before. Where do I see it?
Billing, in your account menu, lists what you paid. Your statement shows “CLAIMYR* TAXR.AI”.
Can I get a refund for what I paid before?
Fees are non-refundable (see the Terms). A question about a payment? Write to support@taxr.ai.
Your file and your privacy
Who can see my documents?
Only you. Your file is kept privately under your account. Taxr never asks for your full Social Security number, your passwords or your bank logins, and it doesn’t sell your information. The Privacy Policy says who helps run Taxr, and Security says how your file is protected.
Does Taxr delete my file when I stop using it?
No: it’s kept until you ask, so it’s still there next tax season. To delete your whole file and account, write to support@taxr.ai or use “Delete my file and account” in Settings.
Can I change what Taxr knows about me?
Yes. The You page lists everything Taxr uses and where it came from; change or remove anything there.
Texts and reminders
Will Taxr text me?
Only your sign-in codes, for now. Reminders (a letter’s deadline, a quarterly estimate, a fresh transcript) show up as cards in your file.
Where do I see what’s coming up?
On the Tax year page, under Coming up, and on the Agents page in your account menu.
Your drafts
Where are the emails and letters Taxr drafted?
In Mail, in your account menu. Taxr drafts them; you send them.
